It is hard to know what you should expect to budget for you project as a homeowner. Best Builder’s comprehensive budgeting system will guide you through every step of the way to attain your budget goals and create a smooth project. We believe that you should design your budget before you design your home so that attainable project goals can be set and achieved.
New Custom Homes
It is tough to put a straight square footage cost on a new home since there are so many factor that need to be taken into account such as: site access, existing site conditions, permit fees, designs, interior and exterior finishes etc. However we have found that a good starting point is $225 per square foot for a new custom home.
We will also give you a preliminary budget breakdown of your design, engineering, permits, and build costs before you purchase your lot to help put costs in perspective.

Complete Renovations
At Best Builders we have become renovation specialist! Over the years we have been through every kind of unique situation that a renovation has to offer. This has given our team the foresight to take all aspects into consideration before we begin any project. It is important to keep return on investment in mind before planning a renovation to ensure that a quality resale value can be assessed.
A good starting point for a complete home renovation is $125 per square foot. A complete home renovation includes: some foundation work, new exterior envelope, structural changes to change floor plans and layout; interior finishes, kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, drywall, insulation, electrical and mechanical upgrades. Costs will vary as each renovation is unique and every one of our renovation projects is tailored to our client’s personal wants and needs. We will take your entire project wish list into consideration before we build a scope of work and a comprehensive budget.

Remodeling
There are many ways of taking an existing home and making it look new without blowing your budget. By keeping existing structural, electrical, mechanical and plumbing components in tact, money and design can be focused on creative simple ways to make existing spaces look new again. Best Builders will create a detailed scope of work and a comprehensive budget for you to ensure all budget goals will meet your remodeling vision.
Key budget points:
- Allow 5% – 10% of total project costs for design fees
Kitchens – allow for $35,000 – $60,000 to start a kitchen remodel
- Kitchen remodel includes: new cabinetry, countertops, flooring, drywall, insulation, lighting, plumbing, venting, plumbing fixtures, appliances.
Bathrooms – allow for $12,500 – $20,000 to start a bathroom remodel
- Bathrooms remodels include: new vanities, countertops, flooring, shower surround, lighting, mirrors, exhaust fans, shower doors, drywall, insulation, waterproof membranes, heating pads, and plumbing fixtures.
